I am running Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit on a Mesh computer that is nearly two years old:
AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual processor 6000+ 3.0 Ghz
2 GB RAM
Nvidia graphics card
WD Mybook external HDD

Over the last 3 months approx I have been getting frequent irregular BSODs with no obvious cause - no consistent trigger, no new software or hardware.

Finally got fed up and tried to fix it today and found this fine site and followed the tips to debug my minidump file. Would be very grateful for suggestions.

Here it is:
Code:
BugCheck 50, {809f5918, 0, 87a1ad0d, 0}

Could not read faulting driver name
Probably caused by : Ntfs.sys ( Ntfs!_SEH_epilog4+0 )

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
is pointing at freed memory.
Arguments:
Arg1: 809f5918, memory referenced.
Arg2: 00000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: 87a1ad0d, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
	address.
Arg4: 00000000, (reserved)

Thanks for replying.

I had the BSODs for some time before I installed the memory back up capability. There has been no change in the frequency of the BSODs since I installed it, and it is running fine on another PC.
