I am experiencing freezing while playing some games such as C&C generals and enemy territory. The other games i have such as Battlefield 2 and Warcraft 3 usually work fine but they sometimes crash. This also happened when i was just doing stuff in a couple programs that dont really require any graphics at all such as Dreamweaver and a couple webpages. Here are my system specs:

Athlon 64 3200+ processor
1 Gig of Corsair DDRAM
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI Motherboard
Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT video card
480 watt Coolmax powersupply

I have all the newest drivers for my hardware and the temperature for my CPU is at about 35C degrees and my GPU temperature is at 55C degrees idle and is at about 74C degrees while playing games.

Your GPU temp is high at 74C/165F. If the card has a fan make sure it is working.

I would open the side of the case and use desk fan to blow into the case near the graphics card and see if your temps go down and the freezing stops. You may not have enough cool air circulation in the case.

I've heard from other places that the GPU can get pretty hot and still be working fine, how hot should it be?
