Freezing, Restarting, Closing Games.

Hey, These past few days my Computer has been acting strange. Every now and then my computer Freezes and the mouse can't move, which is sometimes followed by a restart. Also, when I'm playing a Game It will freeze or close and I'll have to restart the PC by holding the on/off button.

This might be because I installed some software that Makes XP look like Vista by changing the system files that make XP look how it is. I installed it in safe mode like It said, and I had gotten some diagonal lines across the sreen which is followed by a restart. I've uninstalled that Software, Done a System restore and I get those Problems (Freezing, Crashing)

I think it is linked to my Graphics Card, because I had to run Windows in safe mode, Uninstall the drivers, and install them again. It helps for a while then Windows does the same Freezing thing.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2ghz Northwood Overclocked to 3ghz
Graphics: nVidia 7600gs AGP
Motherboard: Asrock P4I65G
Ram: 1gb 133mhz PC 2100

Please help, Its doing my head in! I only wanna play games :sigh:

Ok, I'm gonna try Installing Service Pack 3, I'll see if that can change anything. If it overwrites the system files, it should be a little better I think.
i say scrap that vista look-a-like..you dont want anything to do with vista :)
SP3 can fudge some pcs, but yours maybe safe...it depends..im not going anywhere near it yet..

erm so you system restored to an earlier date? before that install..
if not try a windows xp repair using your current XP SP2 disk

I dont have any xp discs :(

My computer is really messed up now :sigh:

Right now I'm in safe mode with networking. Should I go on the other PC and Download SP2 to disc? I'm stuck for ideas. My system restore hasnt helped either, and I onlt have 4 restore points, 4 days ago.

dammit! :upset:

you are expecting to much with a 50% o/clock
drop it back to normal and see if the freezeing disappears

Ok, but it should be fine. I've been running CpuIdle which drops the temperature, and in the bios Its always at 39 degrees
Ok, I just got BSOD when putting it down to 2GHz. It was one of the nVidia dlls so I just need to uninstall and install the drivers. (I am using the latest driver too.)

Lets hope this is the end to my problems.

Also, Does anyone know any good CPU cooling Utilities? I really need to buy an external fan :p My new motherboard's chassis fan connection is too far for the normal fan to reach -_-
in the device manager uninstall the card
reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes rebooting
disable a/virus
install your drivers
reboot the computer
splice some wire in to lenthen it
