Heey
Okay, recently got given a second hand Acer Aspire 3000 laptop from a family member for my little sister. It runs on XP. When i first had it it was working fine, a little slow as expected but other than that pretty good. Its not the wireless model so i installed some wireless adaptor, which was pretty awful so bought a netgear one which installed and worked fine. The computer ran perfectly for a few weeks and then it just froze instantly. Computer wouldnt respond to anything other than switching the power button off. Restarted it and the same thing would happen, the computer would load up the blue "disk scanning" screen where you can "press any key to skip disk checking" (only it wouldnt repsond if you pressed a key) and then would load the desktop and thats where it froze. The mouse wouldnt move or anything. If you held down keys for a long time (i.e the start button) it would eventually bring up the start menu etc. I then run the laptop in safe mode which worked perfectly and then done a system restore to the earliest point i could since i had the computer. Restore was successful, the computer didnt freeze and the net worked. Was running as normal. I then left the computer for a couple of days, turnt it on tonight and the exact same thing happened, it froze at the desktop, the mouse wouldnt move and couldnt even switch the laptop off with the power button, i had to take the battery out. Restarted it and the same thing happened. I then run the computer in safe mode which as before worked fine. I decided to use the recovery discs to restore the computer, followed all the instructions with the discs and it said that is was complete and successful. After recovering it, when the computer takes you to windows xp setup the computer froze again and literally cannot do anything with it. Tried recovering the computer again, recovery was successful but again forze at the setup screen. Im losing my mind with it!!! If someone can offer some help that would be great
i know the best solution would be to bin it lol but my little sister desperatly wants it back lol
thank you!
