I turned my PC back on after a power cut and went back to watching my favourite online show. When I set the video player to fullscreen, the fps dropped horrendously, the video became very glitchy and laggy, and so did the sound. (Example: a normal "Hello" sounded like "He-e-e-e-el-el-el-lo-lo-lo-lo-o-o-o-".
The same thing happened when I started a video game (also fullscreen). I updated my drivers, virus scan, error check but the problem persisted. I finally did a system defragmentation and it seemed to work.
A week has passed and the problem came back one again. This time I was on youtube watching a video at its normal, small resolutions. Whenever I scrolled down to see the comments it started lagging again. This also happened when I changed tabs, I could hear the sound going bad. I use Chrome, tried other browsers but to no avail. Fullscreen mode still cripples my PC. Tried degramenting again but it didn't work this time.
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 32-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz
CPU: 2.5 GHz
RAM: 3.5 GB
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT
Help greatly appreciated friends.
A helpful member suggested that it could be my video card. How can I check it for errors?
