formatting laptop

my laptop lenovo R60, it is causing problems, i want to format it? what should i do?

what sort of problems are you getting that you decided to format?

some files are not opening, some files (mainly office files) partially saved.

if you have decided to format, then i hope you checked the document on the link i posted previously. Restoring the factory contents by using Product Recovery discs
