btufty I saw the link did not get what the Default Reset
Yes, we all see the link alright, but did you open and actually SEE where it leads? The page it leads to clearly mentions and illustrates what is reset by that setting. More often than not a link will be posted in reply to your query if the information you seek is available on another webpage, with the expectation that you'll follow that link and make use of the information therein.

What Old Rich is trying to say (and he HAS said it) is that when you reset the VIEW of all folders to default, data will not be deleted, only the way you VIEW the folders will change. Most people simply view their folders in the way that's easiest and makes the most sense to THEM. I like seeing the details type of listing since I often will sort by date or size, whereas many of my clients like more of medium or large icon view. The reason Old Rich stated that you should be backing up your data is just in case you make a mistake and files are erroneously deleted, you'll at least have a backup copy.

With regards to the link provided in the first response (post #2), you'll see that there are multiple options provided for resetting your default view for all folders. The better option for you, since you seem to be a visual learner, is the second option. It provides screen shots AND nice little notes/pointers that tell you exactly what to click on.

As a side note, it can get a bit frustrating to NOT get an answer to a question as I'm sure you know. The frustration can go both ways as you have been provided a solution, but when asked if you attempted the solution you simply ask another question. Try the solution provided above and see if that does what you are looking for.
