The computer of a friend of mine is having several issues. The floppy drive is showing up as a 5 1/4 and not a 3 1/2. I have Fdisk the drive and reinstalled Windows 98 FE. Still the same problem. If you do a restart the drive shows up correctly a 3 1/2 and it works fine. If you do a shutdown and turn the power off, and then turn it back on, the boot process is extremely slow. It counts through the ram and then it says Memory Decrease press F1 to continue. I press F1 and it finishes booting up. When you go to My computer, the floppy shows up as 5 1/4 and if you click on it the computer locks up. If you do a restart, it boots up fine and the floppy shows up correclty and it doesn't freeze when you click on it. Is the drive going bad? Could it be the BIOS setting?

Thank you in Advance for any help that anyone may give!!!!!

I was able to fix the problem :) My friend decided to put a password in before you could get into the bios which of course he forgot the password. I took out the battery so it reset everything. When I put the battery back in, the floppy started to work correctly and the memory decrease at the startup went away and everything is working smoothly! Yay!!!!! I thought I would let you guys know what I did just in case anyone else has this problem.

Have a wonderful day!!!!
