Hi and welcome to the forums. If the drive is working properly, I recommend you leave its firmware alone. If you are having problems like reading past a certain point or problems with certain brands or even colors of CDs/DVDs, you might want to update the firmware. A simple google search revealed that there are no official firmware updates to your model, but this group develops modified firmware packages for "upgrading" some capabilities of the drives:
