What Macbook model do you have? Go to the Apple Logo on the top Left and choose About This Mac, then More Info. What Mac OS are you running?
If you do not have a Macbook but a Power PC (Pre-Intel) Firefox 44 is not supported along with many other apps.
You can install the legacy version of Firefox 37.01 Old and New Version of Firefox for Mac Download - OldApps.com for Mac

The picture in post #2 AND #4 is a virtual drive opened from a .dmg installer file. The icon in this picture just needs to be dragged to the application folder to the Right of the Firefox Icon in the Virtual drive (just follow the big arrow). After that,in the Finder/Go/Applications folder look for the Firefox icon drag it to any location you like to copy it including the Dock

As Spunk said in Post #3 you might be limited to Legacy version of FF since PowerPC applications are no longer supported indicated that.

You can delete the old one and rename the #2 if you wish.
