Firefox update locations

I have an odd error that started with the 3.6 series and still is present in 4.0. I had the automatic updater fetch the 3.6.11 version to my firefox which prompted me with an "apply updates" option, the update installed fine, though when I tried to "check for updates" at a later date, I could not as it still says to apply 3.6.11. I have since been installing updates manually though I feel this opens me up to security issues as my response time is obviously slower than if I have automatic fully working again.

My question is I need to know where these update prompts are stored so I can remove it manually. I have tried searching myself to no avail even tried a complete wipe of firefox and the issue still persists. Any help would be appreciated. :4-dontkno

Let's make sure what version of FF is really present. Help>About Mozilla Firefox. What does it say?

Read the Sticky in this Forum concerning Profiles. You might have to modify or destroy yours. There's obviously something lingering and since you've reinstalled FF it's not in the program itself.
Just remembered that old (2.X) Versions had Tools>Options>Advanced>Update>Show Update History. I also looked through About:Config and couldn't find a setting for a History Log.
Corday,
It is under Tools>Options>Advanced>Updates for the Update logs (Show Update History). Mine is empty since I had to create a new profile for FF 4 (6-8 yr. old profile finally gave up the ghost), but it is there.
On Win 7 updates go to the folder at "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox".
To solve the poster's problem, you can delete the contents of that folder (XML files and logs) and they will regenerate on the next update.
