Okay so I'm doing my brother a favor and I'm gonna try to fix this for him.

Firefox on his computer doesn't play any sounds when he's on webpages and stuff. He says he thinks it's because he deleted System 32 when he did a virus scan.

Any advice?

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Multimedia section and enable 'play sounds in web pages'.

If he's deleted important system files, run scannow /sfc. Instructions here: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

You could also try reinstalling the browsers and updating the chipset/device drivers.

This worked for me after many months and tries of other fixes.
:luxhello:

Go to Start > Run and type regedit to open the registry editor.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > LowRegistry > Audio > PolicyConfig > PropertyStore

Right-click PropertyStore. Select 'Find...' and type firefox

Look in the status bar at the bottom of the regedit window. The entry after \PropertyStore\ is the one that needs to be deleted. You will get a confirmation box asking if you're sure you want to delete this key and all of its subkeys. Click the Yes button. Reboot to complete.

Note: Always make a backup before making any changes to the registry. Regedit > File > Export.
