I had my hard drive reformatted, I am missing drivers for my sound card. I have an onboard card, but I am not sure how to find what kind it is. Also Advanced Power Management support. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!! JM

I had an onboard soundcard once i had a SiS630 motherboard i went to sis.com (silicon intergrated systems) and they had drivers for all the devices that were on my mobo such as the sound card NIC Modem Video and all that good stuff. So if you can find the brand name and model number of your motherboard that would probably aid you well in your search for drivers.

Hope that helps and that im not too late.

looks like i have a cyrixinstead 6x86mx with onboard sound and video......i also have a creative 24x cd-rom and floppy drive that seems to have lost it's drivers. I have no idea what else is wrong now. I don't think anything was done when the hard drive was reformatted......PLEASE HELP!!! i've searched the net extensivelyfor drivers with no luck....i'm almost at my wits end!!

Sounds like you have a very old computer. I would take off the cover and look everywhere on the mobo to see if there is anything on there that could tell what mobo it is. As for dma and pio I'm not sure what you are talking about, but if you are talking about computer terms:

dma(direct memory access)
pio(programmable input/output)

it is an old computer, i've upgraded it as much as i can and for what i use it for it's fine. the problem was my grandson playing with it while i was on vacation. messed it up good so i had it reformatted. now i'm sunk!! i found a cd that i think is the drivers for the mobo. that's where the pio and dma came in, it asked what i wanted to install, i canceled it. i have a feeling all the info is there, but what to do with it? i haven't figured it out yet.

What do mean by it aske what I wanted to install? Was there an option to browse for files on the disk? Do you have a program that can take a screenshot, so I could get a better understanding?
