Files lost following XP re-install
I already know the answer to this one, but just in case something wonderful has been developed recently ...
A colleague's daughter had some minor problems with her laptop last week. She was advised by someone to insert the XP reinstallation CD and select Repair. She seems to have selected Install. I have just been handed this laptop and it seems to be a clean installation of XP. There is a user but My Documents, Pictures, Music are empty. There are no Favourites. Her Internet connect is gone. There don't seem to be any programs installed.
I don't suppose there's anything I can do to retrieve lost files, is there? Needless to say, there's no backup.
