So I have a folder on an xp machine that is shared and everyone has full control. However, other people on xp machines cannot open the files in that folder.
They can view the folder, but they get an access is denied error when trying to open files.
If I reset the share it works for a short time and then stops working. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks in advance,
Rachel.

Do you have the files set to read only? If I remember correctly you cant have two people have a file open read/write at the same time I know this is true for unix not sure about windows. To fix this you can make the file read only and then many people can have the file open at the same time. They can then save the file to there own computer and then make changes.

To make files read only highlight files, left click, properties then check the read-only box.
