I would like to take a file that is created each day at a specified time (xxxxx.rpt) and relocate it to another directory and rename it with the date the file was moved (091302.rpt). I'm not a programmer so I was hoping for a simple Batch file or ftp script that might do this. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Ah, good old DOS batch programming. No matter how hard they try, M$ will probably never rid themselves of this monkey.

For a good start, try DOS batch programming. It details Win95/DOS 7 batch files but for the most part they'll work under NT/2K/XP. Click on Sample Batch Files, then look under the Files section. You will see a link entitled "Rename Files with time and date". Be sure to check out the NT Batch Programming link as well for disparities between NT and Win95 DOS commands.

If that doesn't help, Google for "dos batch programming". There are loads of sites out there with good examples.
