I have 3 computers running windows 7. One of them has started giving me the message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action---"
I get this message when I click on any folder in "My Computer". At that point, I have not asked it to open ANY file. I simply click on the folder to see what is in the folder. I would appreciate any clues as to what to
change to kill the message.

Try fix for "folder". If no-go, try "directory"

I was working on a Dell inspiron running windows 7 that had the same problem, I downloaded exefix_cu.reg onto my USB from www.winhelponline.com/blog/restore-exe-file-asso-windows-7-vista-incorrectly-associated/ I put my USB into the laptop and ran the file and it fixed the registry .exe file right away. it only takes about 2 minutes to fix.
