Hello again,

My cruddy Compaq is acting up, and it's happened too many times. Sometimes I am unable to start my computer. When I click the power button, nothing happens. I take the battery out, put it back in, it still doesn't start. I put the computer on the charger, it still doesn't start. I leave it on the charger for 12+ hours, sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't.

Basically, this happens once every 2 weeks or so now and it's ridiculous. It's to the point where it will interfere with my studies soon, seeing as it wouldn't turn on for more than a day last week.

Is this a motherboard problem? I know it's definitely not the battery, as I had first thought. What do I do from here.

Also, I want to know what my motherboard is exactly so that I can check prices on new ones, but am not sure how to find that out. I'm looking in the device manager but am still guessing here, is it:

Intel(R) 82801 PCI Bridge - 2448

Also is it something I can replace myself? My laptop has 3 panels I can take off underneath, so I hope it's something I can do on my own if need be.

Any advice or suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

Well, bump because I need some advice.

After reading other posts here, changing my motherboard is not something I'd be comfortable with on my laptop. But I still need to know if this is causing the problem or not?

Also, I think this is my motherboard now, via EVEREST. not sure:
Mobile Intel Calistoga-GM i945GM

is that correct? (Compaq V3000T, in my profile)

Anyhow like I said, I need some advice, hopefully other alternatives to try first, motherboard replacement as a last resort.

This piece of **** is doing it again, right now. I have a powerpoint that I'm supposed to present in a few hours and the damn thing won't start again.

Anybody have any ideas about this?
