Newbie to RH Linux - I have tried to install RH 7.3 on a PII 350 Desktop 3 times and during all three installation, I get the following error:

There was an error installing [software-package](this varies with each install) This can indicate media failure, lack of disk space, and/or hardware problems. This is a fatal error and your install will be aborted. Please verify your media and try your install again. Press the OK button to reboot your system.

What I don't understand is:

1) I have a 30G HD
2) I successfully installed RH 7.3 on a Pentium I 150 Laptop...so I would think that PII would not be a problem.
3) The CDROM is a brand new 52x reader....

Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

additionally....

I've tried to load 3 different flavors of linux just to see if it's a hardware problem and with all of them, I'm running into errors in the installation process. How do you go about accessing if it's a hardware problem and where the problem lies?

Sounds like for certain either the CD ROM is bad or you have bad ram :( I'd suggest getting a copy of Memfree86 and running that, I've been told it should find bad ram within the first 10% of the test. If you need a copy I have a bootable CD of it :)
