reinstalling windows 98se using fat32 ebd had this problem

I'd fdisk my hdd everything went o'k no problems with fdisk

I' went to format my hdd , it would abort repeatedly at 30% fail!

so I fdsik again this time I' received a drivespace error message?

this hdd has always ben formated in fat32,it never has been formated in fat-fat16?

why would I' receive an error message about drivespace?

You may want to download the hard drive manufacturers disk utility and run a diagnostic against the drive. You can find a link in my sig.

Did you ever use the drivespace disk compression utility? It should have been removed by fdisk but maybe not. Download the drive manufacturer’s utilities as per crazijoe. If the diagnostics check out OK, use the same utility to wipe (zero) the drive. Then format and re-install. It's very likely remnants of the old installs are interfering with the new installs

ya',I' did use the drivespace compresion utility on my usb flash drive,I' never used drivespace on my HDD,I' read somewhere that drivespace is for fat-fat16 HDD only,drivespace is not fat32 compatible?


anywho the second time I' fdsik my HDD,I' was able to format the HDD with no more drivespace forma error messages?
