Boot off of the Vista CD and get to the Recovery Console and type chkdsk /R and hit enter. The check disk utility will try and fix any errors.
Factory Settings
Can ANYONE plz help?? I just resotred my desktop computer to factory settings. I was having an issue with the computer being very very very slow and was advised to restore. However now my screen is missing. I can turn the computer on and I get the microsoft load screen but once it is suppose to take me to the log in screen I get blackness. Im incredibly lost and I just bought the desktop not three months ago. Plz plz help. I had vista home premium if that is relavant. .

before running chkdsk,run the manufacturers diagnostic on the hard drive
what do you get in safe mode
d/load and run the h/drive makers diagnostic utility on the h/drive

check the listings in the bios for voltages and temperatures and post them
if it is only 3 months old it should be under warranty
