I am also curious for any help. I have the exact same situation after attempting the same thing. I had viruses, attempted to "renew" my computer by doing the same things. Now I have the "floppy diskette seek failure" when I start up, and I have no sound.

I have seen this many times lately and there should be a bios update on the computer manufacturer website. If it is custom made (built yourself) than go to the motherboard manufacturers site and look for a bios update. I can almost guarantee this is the fix.

Goodluck!
