Settings > Security or Biometrics and security > Face unlock

 

From time to time, even if you have face unlock enabled, you may be required to verify using another method.

Also, be aware that facial recognition is not a particularly secure way to prevent others from accessing your phone.

As with all things related to security, the more convenient something is, the less secure it usually is.
