For the past couple of months my computer periodically slowed down to the point of being basically unusable. The system remained slow until the system was restarted. After another such incident today the computer didn't boot back up, but remained with the black screen. I had another CPU which fit into the socket and the computer booted up with no problems; then I put the other one in and nothing but the black screen.

Is it possible that these slowdowns were a result of a failing processor or was this a coincidence?

Cpu's if kept cool rarely fail so make sure your temps are good, the slow downs could have been from heat witch prematurely ended the processors life
