Hey, I'm a newby here and hope this will be an really useful tool for me.
I have 4 external hard drives. 1 is WD My Book in use 3 years (not connected at this time), 2 is Seagate 280 GB (in use 2 yrs), 3 is Maxtor 280 GB (in use 1 yr) and 4 is Maxtor One Touch 700 GB. I also have a Belkin USB (2.0) Port Hub that I had been successfully using with the #1, 2 & 3, my printer and a Sandisk Card Reader.
After installing #4 I started experiencing problems at start-up with my PC. After it gets to the screen that indicates what the name of the Motherboard is at start-up it freezes. :4-dontkno If I unplug the One Touch and restart again it will continue to start and then I have to reconnect the One Touch again. When this started happening I was told that I may have more externals than system allows so I disconnected the oldest one #1. That did not help I have to go through this on every start-up.
Also, within the past couple of days the #3 Maxtor has started not showing up on my computer after every restart. I unplugged it from the USB port hub and connected it directly to PC. That did not help it still does not show up and has to be disconnected and reconnected before it is recognized every time.
Can someone PLEASe offer some guidance in helping me resolve this problem? :4-dontkno
