external hdd not recognized

newbie here

i put an old internal drive( from my old pc) on an external hdd enclosure in hopes of salvaging files/folders etc. My laptop was able to recognize it" labeled disk drive" under device manager, but it doesn't show up on disk management or my computer. I just want to transfer all the files from this drive. When I right -clicked properties under device manager, it says that no drivers are installed etc. do i need to install driver so I can view it?
