External Hard drive shutting down question...

Hey people... hope u dont get mad if im not in the right place to post this thread there.... so emmm yah, im wondering, i have a terabyte and i have no clue if i should just press the button to shut it down or what ??? or do i need absolutely to do all the safety stuff in the bottom right side of my desktop there... so yah thanx, and if possible, because maybe i wont find this thread again because im new here... could you guys please if possible send me your answers ***************** Thank you very much !! appreciate your help guys !!!

Yes, you should "safely remove" the HDD before physically removing it.
Otherwise the data may get corrupted.
Ok but now, its sortof impossible !!!! 1 time out of ten itll say these words there... you can now safely remove.. blah blah blah... or else itll just say its being used or something like that ! BUT ITS NOT !!, im not even using it !!!, so how do i do that ??? and by the way, i only need to close it for the night there.. it still is connected.. .just to shut it off... anws, thanx...
