External Hard drive does not auto mount

Hello. I recently purchased an external USB2 Mad Dog Enclosure and placed a 80 gig HD in it. I cannot get it to auto mount. I have to go in properties..manage and activate the disk each time I startup (WinXP). There must be some way to make it automount, as my 160 gig External WesternDigtal mounts whenever I turn it on or if I turn it on during a startup.

I tried all settings but none would auto mount. It's a WD and Master is set to have all the pins removed: master w/slave present and slave and cable select. They all worked if I went to properties...manage and activated the disk. I wonder what WD does to make them automount, in the case of the WD 160 external USB2 hard drive. Seems like alot of trouble. I take it this is a common problem?
