I am currently working in Luxembourg. I access the Internet there via the Hotcity, city wide wireless service. I have a good signal in my bedroom but limited/no connection in the lounge. How can I extend coverage/boost the signal/boost reception on my laptop? I had thought to use a wireless repeater but have been told I would need to be able access the router to set this up, which I cannot do with Hotcity as provider.

You may purchase a Wi-Fi Adapter with High-Gain Antenna, similar to any of these. Get an 'N' plus at least 9dBi or higher for extended range.
