Expansion

About a year ago I built my very first computer. Now, one year later, I look to expand.
Any ideas that don't exceed the price of 500$ are greatly appreciated.

My specs are:

motherboard - gigabyte ga-ma785gmt-ud2h
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 125W 3.0 GHz Quad core
RAM - G.skill 4GB DDR3 240 pin
PSU - Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750W
Video Card - Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
Hard Drive - Hitachi 0A38016 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s

Thanks, Steven

What are you looking for it to do that it's not doing?
There is a terrible lot of improvement to be made from where you are, possibly a better CPU cooler and some overclocking, perhaps a 5870 video card but that's big money for a small gain at this point.

As there is a terrible lot of improvements I would like to know what would give me the most out of what I could do.
As I do not know much about over clocking I would like to know more of what would improve the computer performance wise.
Or would it be worth my time to learn about overclocking?
At this point, I am completely clueless on the subject. :4-dontkno
That should have said "there is not a terrible lot of improvements" one little word a whole different meaning:)

Overclocking is a definite boost in performance, the system is still up to date, that CPU will clock to 3.8 without any problem.

What speed is the ram, and what speed is it running?
Use CPUz if your unsure> http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php on the memory tab dram freq. x 2 will be the ram speed.
As of right now, my CPU heatsink is Arctic cooling freezer 64 pro 92mm. Would this fan not be sufficient for over clocking? If not, what other heatsinks would you recommend?
The AC HS/F should be fine. OC'ing can be done with a OEM HS/F but not as far as aftermarket units. Note that OC'ing puts more stress on components and voids warranties.
So if I overclock a lot there are more possibilities of component failure? Sounds risky :/
Are there any other things that could be upgraded?
This may be a silly question. But what about dual monitors? How would one go about that?
Overclocking too far is risky, 3.6-3.8 on that setup is not.

dual monitors are a possibility, you just hook it to the second port on the video card.
