I have a Compaq Evo running windows98SE. I installed a SIIG duet parallel pci card giving me an LPT2 and LPT3. I have a Brother HL1240. Whenever I have it plugged in to the expansion cable, and try to power on, I just get the dull green light on my computer. If I unplug the printer and power on, it comes right up.
I talked to SIIg and their response was to move it to LPT1.

Does the card have jumpers on it for IRQ's and DMA channels?

If you go into device manager does LPT2 and LPT3 show up there?
If you got instructions with the card did you read and follow them upon installation.

Check the device manager and post back.

it does show lpt1, lpt2 and lpt3.

There may be an IRQ issue there.

Try going to system and see what IRQ's are being used or if there are any conflicts.

Try allocating new IRQ's

You can find out which ones are available by going to Start

System Information

Click the plus sign next to Hardware Resources and IRQ's

I will only buy a card with jumpers on it so that I can select IRQ's and DMA channels.....
