Recently I had a nasty virus, the Win 7 2012 malware that acts like a virus scanner. I managed to get rid of it with the help of some folks on another forum, but as a result, I have been left with this weirdo error.
I'm not sure exactly how to describe it but it seems like some new .exe files get this "no such interface supported" error when I try to install programs. It has also happened when I try to save .pdf files to Zotero, a citation management plugin for firefox.
For example, I just installed some windows updates, and when my computer restarted, this error popped up:
As part of the virus removal, I had to uninstall java/flash, and when I try to reinstall it, I get a similar error:
This is become pretty annoying and I have no idea what's wrong. I did the steps in the guide on this page (re-register all DLLs) and it did not help.
I tried doing sfc /scannow in cmd and it didn't help. According to winver, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate version 6.1.
Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
