Excel Hang in windows 2003

Hi
Installed ms-office 2000 in windows server 2003. but i tried to open the excel & work on the application, it becomes very slow to respond. and application is also & stataed as:

"Hanging application EXCEL.EXE, version 9.0.0.2719, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."

if try to right click in any cell, the cell options are not able 2 select by mouse or keyboard.
All security updates & antivirus are upto date.

help me out
