I have an Excel 2010 xlsm file with hyperlinks that have worked for at least 10 years.
Now when I create a new link to a new folder in a particular parent folder (the parent folder I have always used) I get a pop-up message saying: “Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer. It is important to be certain that this file is from a trustworthy source. Would you like to open this file?”
If I click yes, I get a pop-up error message saying “An unexpected error has occurred”.
If I edit the Hyperlink to have it point to the parent folder instead of the subfolder, it opens the parent folder.
If I edit the hyperlink to point to a different folder in a different parent folder, the “different” folder will open.
I know this sounds confusing, but does anyone have any suggestions for a fix? I have scanned the drive with Malwarebytes, and apart from some PUPs which I have quarantined, no viruses are found.
This started just recently and is driving me bonkers.
I also noticed a few days ago, that when I wanted to add a hyperlink in a cell, the system opened the wrong folder to select from and not the one with the sub-folders that I have linked to previously, but I fixed that. It now opens to the parent folder with the sub-folders that I want to link to. But after I create a hyperlink and then click on it I get the warning message. Are we confused yet?

I found today that if I edit one of the hyperlinks that do not work and delete {..\} from the "address" the link then works.
I have hundreds of Hyperlinks that no longer work, and If I have to edit every one of them individually it could take me weeks to do. I tried using CTRL + H to do a "global replace" but it could not find any {..\}. Grrr... Whatever {..\} is it is ain't text.

The brackets { } are mine and not part of the hyperlink addresses.
