Hi

I'm running Win 7 SP1. I was scanning through my 'Event Viewer' recently and I noticed two errors (both Administrative Events) relating to PrinterService.

1- The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module dopdfmn5.dll, error code 0x7e. See the event user data for context information.
2- Printer doPDF v6,0 failed to initialize because a suitable doPDF 6 Printer Driver driver could not be found. The new printer settings that you specified have not taken effect. Install or reinstall the printer driver. You might need to contact the vendor for an updated driver.

Both these relate to a software (doPDF) which I uninstalled some time back. (doPDF allows the conversion of various format documents to PDF by setting itself up as a 'printer')

I uninstalled the program with its native uninstaller program at the time (not RevoUninstaller). Obviously there are some remnants which are causing these two event errors. I have looked under 'printers' (Control Panel) and there is no sign of doPDF any more.

How do I eliminate these recurring errors (at every boot-up)? (I tried installing and uninstalling doPDF, but it did not eliminate the problem - I suspect because I could not find the version I had last (v6.?), but the latest version 7.)

Any pointers? Thanks.

Did you try re-installing the printer driver as advised in the event log?[/QUOT. E]

I installed the doPDF software which (I assume) installed the driver. (Remember, it is not a real printer (hardware) but a converter of document formats.) Installing / uninstalling doPDF did not remove the Event Viewer errors.

The event has already occurred so that is why you have a log, try using something like revounistaller to remove the software
Thanks. Did that already, but did not work. Since the problem appears to be an unclean uninstall (i.e. software related rather than Win7), I have now shifted my questions to the doPDF forums - hopefully someone there will have a solution.

Hi, click Start, search and type:- cmd , right click on the returned cmd .exe and select "run as administrator" at the prompt type:-

Code:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
(press enter)

Next:-
Type the following command

Code:
start devmgmt.msc
(press enter)

Under "view" select "show hidden devices" expand the tree to locate your device (usually non present devices show with a faded icon) highlight right click and select uninstall.

Hi Thanks. Got into Device Manager with above, could not see/identify any printer-related devices.

However, under the tree labelled 'Non-Plug and Play drivers' there were around 50 'drivers' with similar names (e.g. 'MpKsle059ec6') with the following message under Properties

"This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)"

I am not quite sure if these are related to the problem at hand, or if they can just be uninstalled without any side-effects.

Thanks for the feedback.
