Did uninstall and reinstall of operating system on dell 4550..xp..several years old and full of junk...everything went great...but..ethernet is detected, but no driver.Don't remember if this ethernet came with puter, or if I installed it. Went through all the disks with puter..resource,drivers, etc..cannot locate a driver. Any clues?..Thanks

Use a program like everest to give you details of your hardware. Its a free
download. Determine the card you have, or it may be onboard, and find
the proper driver.

Well determine if the ethernet card is onboard or not. If it is a pci card,
remove it and find out the make and model then download the driver,
will usually fit on a floppy. If it is onboard the driver will be somewhere
on the mobo install disk.
