OK I just got Age of Mythology for my birthday. I installed the game, and restarted my computer. When I go to try and play the game I get this error message.

OK on my laptop both accounts are adim accounts and the game will not play on either account. I'd like to know how to fix this. I already tried uninstalling then reinstalling the game and it did not work. Thanks.

Hi LadyKiara, and again, welcome to TSF.

This sounds like it may be more of a Windows-related problem than a games problem, so I may get some Windows gurus to come and have a look.

Firstly though, please run through the steps listed under "Common Game Issues" in my signature. Some will not apply, but others will be very important. Just run through each one and post back with results.

If you have no luck with any of those steps, try creating a brand new Admin account on your laptop, and install the game from that account. See if that has any effect.

Let us know how you go.

PS - happy birthday. Hope you enjoyed it.

OK I followed all the steps on the common game issue page. Updated drivers, video/sound card, got the patches for the game, restarted my comp and reinstalled the game 4 times now. Even created a new admin account, installed, restarted and tried again. It's still not working. I'm not sure what else to try. :/

OK I now have 3 accounts on my laptop. One for my friends, my personal one, and the one I made to try and reinstall the game. Tried that, it didn't work. So I switched all accounts but mine to limited so mine was the only with admin powers, and still got the same error popup. :/

Put the disc for the game into your cd drive.
Open My Computer.
Right-click on the cd and select Explore.
Locate the secdrv.sys file, right-click on it and select Copy.
Browse into the System hard drive (the one that has Windows installed).
Open the Windows folder.
Open the System32 folder.
Open the Drivers folder.
Go to the Edit menu and Paste the file into this folder .
Try again launching the game and post back how it went.
