After hearing much about System Shock being one of the best/scariest FPS games ever, I bought a copy off eBay.

When I go to install it, I get the following message before the install craps out:

"Install Info Error. file=: wrong number of params"

Now I realize there will be problems running this game on my OS (Win2000Pro), so I have DOSBox ready to go, but I can't even get System Shock installed!

Any advice? Thanks in advance everyone.

Are you trying to install it from within DOSBox also? If so, are you making sure you have the correct setup for the cdrom mount? It should be something like:

Code:
mount d D:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
you might need to use the -label switch also to tell dosbox the label of the cd.

No, I'm not trying to install it from within DOSBox. I'm just trying to install it through normal process. Should I be installing it through DOSBOx?
