Hi,

I recently bought Mathematica and have tried to install it on my PC with Windows Vista. However, half way through the process Error 5: Access Denied pops up.

How can I fix this? I am the administrator on this computer, but have no idea what to do and my online homework is piling up.

Thanks

Hi, that link applies to XP, what you need to do is right click on the executable and select "run as administrator". Even though you are logged in as admin in both Vista and Seven you will receive a UAC prompt to allow a program to run, some legacy programs will not invoke the UAC prompt so the installation fails. Setting "run as administrator" resolves this. In Vista and Seven an Admin account really has only limited Admin privilege there is a true hidden Admin account in both OS. This is by design so as to prevent programs you do not want, from running on your computer.
