Hello, I am trying to embed an interactive map showing a cross country trip onto my website.

Originally, I sought to do this via GoogleMaps, using their simple "my maps" feature that lets you embed a simple custom map (you can draw lines, lines along roads, and points of interest)

However, I find this feature to be flawed, as I have reached the limit of line segments that can be drawn on my map, and sometimes segments of the lines vanish and become invisible.

Is there an alternative to this method? I am assuming that the only likely answer is Google Maps API, but I don't even know where to begin to learn how to use that.

Any advice?

Hi William, the best way to do this is with an image slicer/mapper. You can set areas in your image (map) as clickable links. You can indicate the areas that are clickable anyway you wish. Most use stars or plain text. I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 to use this feature but there are many programs that allow you to do this.
