Does anyone know what it takes to build an e-commerce site? How much should one charge for something like that. Can someone point me in the right direction to find out more info on it? Thank you for your help.
It really depends on what kind of site you want. Are you going to host it yourself? Do you want to take credit cards? How much inventory are you handling? Create shipper automatically? If it just a small site yahoo has a store program. I am not sure on the price or reasources with it but it could be worth checking out. If you want a custom site programmed it could cost anywhere from a couple thousand to a 50 - 60 thousand.
godaddy has a program too using QuickShoppingCart. for unlimited products in your cataloge I think it's something like $50/month, plus the percentages and transaction fees deducted from every transaction (just like any other place).
I find it better to get a a host thta supports php, then find a CMS that you like like oscommerce, e107, zencart, there are hundreds. most are free adn have the plugins and dev support you need for free.
