DVD transfer I/O error

1064 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  dreamatek
I have the SONY DW-D26A DVD burner. I have been having issues with it burning and having to restart the computer too. Ever since I installed this I cannot transfer big files from CDs or DVD to any of my drives, I get I/O errors and stops! But these disks work fine on other computers. Does it sound like a bad burner or is their a property in XP I could change? Please help on this.

Thank you

I might also mention that either the CD or DVD will transfer smaller files like 1mg-60mg with no problems. But anything big like 200-500mg files like my quicktime video I get the I/O error.
you can try searching for a firmware update. also try another replacing the cable and see if that works.
I fixed it!!!!!! This is what you have to do;

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Under Computer Management (Local), click Device Manager.
3. In the right pane, expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
4. Right-click the channel where your CD drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.
5. On the Advanced Settings tab, in the Transfer Mode box for the device that represents your CD drive, click PIO Only.
