Hey Members,
I have a small problem.
My DVD DL-RW +/- device used to burn everything untill last week. I can not burn any CD-R, RW nor play any kind of CD in the drive. I've tried everything but it's just spinning and not finding anything in the drive. ( NO CD). With DVD's I can do everything.

Please help!!!

Have you tried cleaning your DVD drive?. If not you might need to do it several times.

DVD Problem

Hey...thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately....it even(the DVD drive) does not read the CD. I tried several things ...no luck..any other suggestions?

to clear things. the dvd-rw drive only reads dvd's and for some unknown reasons no cd's of any kind..
SO any help would do...thanks again

What is the make and model of DvD-rw. Also, can you think of anything you might have done to cause the problem. ie, install new software or update any drivers?

DVD drives actually have dual lasers: one for the CD, and one for the DVD. I'd try to clean the drive with a cleaner disk as suggested in case only the CD part is dirty but if that doesn't work then the CD laser may have died. DVDs normally are accessed with plain old IDE drivers so there's not a whole lot to go wrong with the drivers. To be sure it's a hardware problem you could just try plugging it into another computer and see if it still can't read CDs.
