Hi,

I'm having trouble as of today with getting my DVD+/-RW drive to work. The details of my system are as follows:
Acer TravelMate 292LMi, Windows XP Professional SP2, with a Lite-On Slimtype DVDRW SDW-431S. I've owned it for about a little over year, and has worked up till now.

The odd thing is that it reads CDs inserted properly, but not DVDs of any type (data or video).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Jon

Hi,

I'm using Nero but the re-install doesn't change it - it's actually not being recognised at all (i.e. doesn't physically see the disk in there).
I don't use an antivirus, just ZoneAlarm for the firewall and Spybot S&D for the spyware (virus checks I run via TrendMicro HouseCall online).

I'm beginning to think it might be a problem with the laser for the DVD? Can this happen, if it can recognise CDs but not DVDs?

Cheers,

Jon
