DVD-ROM stopped working...

For no apparant reason (I haven't made any changes to my system etc), my Pioneer DVD-115 DVD-ROM Drive is no longer working properly. My computer is about a year old running XP Professional.

Data CD's - Autoplay will not work, but the cd's contents can be examined in windows explorer

Music CD's - Recognized and autoplay with no problems

DVD's - Not recognized at all. The drive just keeps spinning without revving down and Windows doesn't act like there's even a CD in the drive. Trying to open the drive in windows explorer causes a lockup.

Trying to open the drive with no cd in it causes an error message to pop up that says "incorrect function"

I tried using system restore, but it didn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum,

It sounds like your DVD\CD Rom is bad. Do you have a warunty on your PC? If you do I would send it back and get a new DVD\CD rom.
