I am having problems with DVD playback. When I play a DVD, it seems as though it is "choppy", especially when people are walking or a car is moving. It seems like the DVD player is too slow and can't keep up. It isn't making a smooth transition. I am running Windows 98. I have a Gateway 550 with 128 MB of RAM and a Toshiba SD-M1212 DVD. It was suggested to me that I check the DMA box in the DVD driver properties but I get a warning that if I do that, it may have undesirable effects with my hardware so I'm a little leary about doing that. Thank you for any suggestions.

Welcome to the board,

Check that you don't have to many programs running in the background that will slow your system down, programs running in the background are normally but not always represented by an icon on the task-bar.

run MSconfig and give me the list of programs listed in the startup tab.
