uninstall and reinstall your burning software
dvd drives not reading blank discs

my pc seems to have stopped wanting to read or even recognise blank cds or dvds. I have two drives a dvd rom and dvd rw, both are not reading blank discs. Its all wrrrrrr and click and flash and then nothing, and sometimes non-responsive programs.
Does anyone have any idea about this - please help if you can- and many thanks in advanced.

i uninstalled the software and re-installed and hurrah the dvd rw works and i burnt a cd - the dvd rom still didnt recognise the disc and even know it was there - but at least i can burn a cd if i want to -
any more ideas to get the rom drive working properly
