I have a newish (6 month old) system with all new components. Very recently I bought Dragon Age origins and have put the disc in the drive. No problems reading it, installing it, and playing it. When I leave the disc in the drive while not playing, I can hear the drive making a funny noise, as though it's skipping over the disc. It does it continually and has caused the system to crash several times now. I know this because if I leave the disc in the noise happens and eventually it crashes. If I eject the disk the noise stops and there is no crash. This has never happened before.
I'm using Vista 64, I have one DVD-RW which is a Sony DRU860S.
Anyone got any ideas.

It seems removing the disc after it loads would be a simple solution.
I assume the noise is the drive spinning up momentarily from time to time. Could also be a faulty drive.
