Hi all first time poster

I have a problem; I recently installed a ATI Radeon 3650 512 mb AGP video card. After a few weeks my DVD r/rw drive stopped working and was not even being recognized by my computer.

I suspect that because the video card required an additional IDE cable for power that it may be taking power away that is needed to run the DVD drive, and also because my previous video card did not require an IDE cable plugged into it.

Any suggestions of what I should do?

Graphics cards do not require an IDE cable. What brand of 3650 card do you have. I've never saw one that required any cables.
Most likely, the optical drive just failed.
Go to Start-Right clik "My Computer"-Select "Properties"-Is the optical drive recognized there? If it is, clik on the arrow to the left side, double clik the drive-clik on "Driver"-Select "Uninstall" "OK" and reboot the PC. Windows will reinstall on boot.
Do you have another optical drive to try? Can you put your optical drive into another PC to test it?
