DVD Drive Not Reading/ Writing

1308 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Tyree
Hey Guys, Randomly my DVD Drive/CD Drive decided to stop working on my Dell Inspiron 530. I reconnect everything to be sure and still no fix. I can eject discs and such from Vista, Open and Close the tray. But I can not read the Discs nor write to them.

Thanks for your help in Advance

first try to clean the DVD Drive with a lens cleaner Disc...
I have tried that.. No such luck ;(
ok try to delete upper & loser filters..the path for that in registery editor is : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} (the first entry by that name)..delete lower & upper filter entries & no install entry..also try to swap any other DVD Drive...if that works fine....then its DVD drive which needs to be changed..
Cleaning discs should not be used if they have any raised areas (i.e. brushes). They can knocked the laser out of adjustment.
Your CD or DVD drive can't read or write media
If that doesn't work you probably have a failed optical drive.
